Appreciation For The Whole Journey!

I am learning to appreciate my journey and Praise God for everything He has done in my life.

I have avoided looking at old pictures for years because it stirs up mixed emotions in me. For a long time I think I was hiding or running from my past. I think I thought, “if I could just be good enough today, maybe that will make up for who I was”. I was trying to be perfect and earn the love of Jesus.

Shame had me spinning, striving, hiding and running.

The love of Jesus is enough for me in every season I have been in.

I can’t DO anything to earn the love of Jesus.

The love of Jesus has changed me.

The love of Jesus has healed me.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

I have been perfectly positioned to face the challenges that lay in front of me today because of what the Lord has walked me through already. Appreciation for the whole journey and the faithfulness of God in every season, is what gives me courage to walk by faith forward.

“So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.”

Romans 3:28 NLT

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 NLT

Freedom is a gift I tried to earn for a long time and chasing after that freedom meant that shame was just waiting around the corner of my next imperfect moment. Then the shame spiral would hold me back again.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

Hebrews 12:1 NLT

My endurance for this race is starting to build, as I learn to leave the weight of shame at the feet of Jesus each day.

Let’s run with endurance the race set before us!

Lead the life you were made to live.

You were made to live well!

Let’s grow,

Heather
