My Favourite At Home Beauty Routines

I have been a stay at home mom/work at home mom for about five years now. There are weeks when I do not leave the house for days on end. I enjoy being home but it can drain me so I have always found so much rejuvenation in my at home beauty treatments and routines. Beauty has always been something I have done for myself, to express the way I feel or to lift my own spirits and get a better appreciation for myself. In this post, I want to share some beauty rituals that make me feel good. Some are simple and you probably have everything you need around home to do them yourself and some may require something you don’t have but I bet there is something for everyone.

Take A Bath

This seems simple but there are ways to make it extra special. I am going to be bold here and make some suggestions too. First, don’t bring your cell phone, if you need to read something bring a book or magazine. Second, you can make your bath extra good for your skin by adding essential oils, a bath milk or even coconut oil. Third, light a candle in the bathroom, play some music, create a little spa for yourself.

Scrub Your Skin

I love to exfoliate my face and body, it feels so good to do an exfoliation treatment. A simple scrub with the loofa and body wash all over my body followed by lotion feels great. For your face, if you do not have an exfoliant on hand you can make a very simple and delicious one by soaking a cotton pad in lemon juice and piling sugar on top of it. Then rub the cotton pad in an upward motion all over your face and rinse. I love to follow my scrub with a face mask. Sheet masks are specifically my favourite right now because I always see an instant improvement in the plumpness of my skin. I have linked some Sephora brand sheet masks below, I always grab a handful of them when I am on my way out of the store.

Rose Moisturizing Mask

Self Tanning

If I am doing a full beauty treatment night in the bathroom, I will follow my body scrub with a layer of self tanner. I am telling you guys, even in quarantine, self tanner makes me feel a little sunny boost. Spring is on its way and I am pulling out my shorts and dresses and this is the time of year I start working on building up my tan. I have used the St. Tropez Tanning Mousse for years. In the past I have used the classic colour but this year I am using the Dark. Shop the St. Tropez Tanning Mousse here.

Paint Your Nails

This is something I might do after the bath. I like to start by buffing my heels and moisturizing my feet. I will trim my nails or file them if it is needed, push back my cuticles and buff my nails so they are smooth. I might stop there or I might add polish, it just depends how I feel.

Wash & Dry My Hair

I only wash my hair a few times a week but when I wash it I take my time. I have Unite shampoo for blonde hair and also a hydrating toning treatment. I have a cleansing shampoo and a purple shampoo so I normally wash my hair twice and then hydrate with purple conditioner or the toning treatment. If I want to go all out I will blow dry my hair. If I take the time to do this my hair looks fresher longer and I feel a little extra bouncy.

Makeup Play

During quarantine is a great time to play with your makeup. You only need to impress yourself because you are not going anywhere. You can try something out and wash it off. I always say when it comes to beauty there are no rules just techniques. Have fun and experiment and chances are you will get to know a side of yourself you didn’t know before.
