Six Things I Do To Get Motivated

When I have days where I feel like I am not getting anywhere, when I feel overwhelmed by the to do list and mess that surrounds me, I do a few things to help me refocus and simply do what I can in that moment.

Read The Bible

I have highlighted verses in my Bible that are my favourite most encouraging Bible verses, when I feel lost I flip through to one I have highlighted and read it a few times and then pray on it.

Make Lists

Before I start diving into a task, I will write a fresh list of to do items. When I see them in front of me and I can then assess the priorities that must be tackled first, I feel less overwhelmed.

Drink A Coffee

Obviously the caffeine provides an added boost of energy and focus but I enjoy the taste. It’s an uplifting and comforting warm treat while I work. Enjoy something simple you love, like coffee or tea while you work and see how its brings a different feel to accomplishing your tasks.

Read My Vision & Why

When I get overwhelmed by the small tasks that need to be accomplished everyday, I forget why I am doing all the little things everyday and when that happens it’s easy to throw my hands in the air and give up. When I read my vision I am reminded of the bigger goals and purposes for my small daily work and it helps me get motivated to get started.

Lean Into A Community

I am so blessed to be connected with a few amazing communities of people for the various areas of my life where I am trying to grow. I have a community for my faith, homeschool and wellness. When I am feeling blocked or discouraged I don’t need to look far to connect with others that are with me on this journey and can lift me up when I am having a low day.

Start

This is easier said than done but once you get going on something, you keep going. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by the to do list but being overwhelmed wont get us anywhere so do what you can to start somewhere and celebrate what you do get done.

For a little inspiration to get you started, below is one of my favourite Bible verses.

Romans 8:28-30New International Version

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
