Christmas Activities In Toronto 2019

Each holiday season, I try to organize a family Christmas activity. For the past few years we have been to Sloan’s Christmas Tree Village in Bothwell and we love that tradition but this year we wanted to do something different. One of my friends shared about Glow Toronto on her Instagram feed so I reached out to them to find out if we could be a part of also sharing the experience.

Last Friday my sisters, the kids and I headed to Toronto. Glow Toronto is at the Toronto Congress Centre until Jan 4, 2019. We booked a room at the Holiday Inn Toronto Airport and it worked out perfectly because our hotel was basically next door to the Congress Centre. We checked into the hotel, freshened up and headed to Glow Gardens for the evening. There were a variety of experiences for the kids to enjoy, interactive experiences like icicle installations we could walk through, light pods that changed colour when you jumped on them, teddy bear pits you could jump into and so much more. When we first arrived at 7pm it was pretty busy, we explored until they closed at 10pm and I would say the last hour it started to clear out a little which was nice as we revisited our favourite experiences.

This experience was truly magical for the kids and my sisters and I, we were all in awe of beautiful light display after beautiful light display. If you love Christmas lights, you will love this event. I also think its lovely that it is indoors so if you are not a fan of cold winter nights, this is a perfect way for you to enjoy Christmas lights. We headed back to our hotel for late night snacks in bed and watching TV before we fell asleep. My kids love staying in a hotel, just the simple things like watching TV in bed make a little trip like this awesome for them. I love staying in a hotel too! The next morning we went for a swim in the hotel pool and then got ready to head into Toronto to visit the Toronto Christmas Market.

I had never been to the Toronto Christmas Market but it has been on my bucket list of things to do around Christmas, for the last few years. It exceeded a lot of my expectations, it was larger than I thought it would be. The whole market is decorated for Christmas in the most charming old fashioned way, with touches of modern. We tried some delicious coffees and treats and checked a few gifts off the Christmas list. The kids did great walking around the market as there was lots to look at, they especially love pigeons. We were cold by the end of our adventure so you definitely want to be sure to dress warm but braving the cold is totally worth it.
