Hart Beauty Parlour is our hair sponsor for HAL SOCIALS 2019, providing attendees with styling and touch ups before hopping into our Olive Branch Studio photo booth. I had an appointment set to have my hair styled by Jess for the last few weeks, I was going to go in and learn some styling tips and techniques and then share them here with all of you.
Last week I came across a picture of an influencer I follow and loved her short hair style, I asked you guys if I should go for the chop and you all encouraged me to do it. “Hair is supposed to be fun.” I have known Jess for years now and I knew she was a skilled stylist so I trusted her to create the look. And, I think she created something even better than the picture I showed her. She tailored my request to my personal style and face shape and I am so thrilled with the finished results. We started with a wash before choosing a cool toner to refresh my colour. The shampoo room at Hart Beauty Parlour is so inspiring. As you lay and enjoy a head massage, you take in a wall filled with inspirational quotes that will have you believing you can truly take on the world. After spending just a few hours in Hart Beauty Parlour it was clear these were not just pretty pieces of art on the wall, Jess and the team of Hart Beauty Parlour work and live with a bold passion that is inspiring to be around.
Once my tone was complete we reviewed the style I wanted to create, the details of the look then Jess went to work chopping. She worked with ease and focus and I enjoyed watching her in her element. We chatted about so many things while she styled my hair, in addition to being a salon owner and stylist, Jess is also a UNITE educator, wife, mother, hockey coach and enthusiast. She coaches her daughters along side her husband and plays hockey herself. The way she is doing life, is an example to girls and women everywhere that there is no mold for who you should be, we can all create our own unique path based on the things that make us happy.
For styling my hair we followed these steps
Blow dry hair for a few minutes
Apply UNITE Expanda Volume to damp roots
Apply UNITE Boosta Volumizing Spray to damp ends
Blow dry with a round brush to create even volume and a smooth finish closing the hair follicles and preparing them for more heat styling
Spritz dry roots with UNITE Texturiza Spray
Divide hair into sections starting at the bottom back and worked to the top
Create an effortless wave by gliding and twisting your flat iron through your strands in sections
If you are feeling fancy, add some hair clips for extra personality
I love the final results, I feel so good, so refreshed, almost like a new woman. It’s amazing what a hair cut can do for a girl. I am so excited to play with my new style using tools and products from Hart Beauty Parlour, keep an eye on my Instagram for some stories where I plan on sharing my efforts at recreating Jess’s style on my hair.
